Over the years I have been known by many names, Deathhand, Nightreaper, Shade, Darkblade, and a few others, but I can not remember my birth name. I have lived...well..existed, for over five hundred years. Once, many many years ago, I was human, and also an assassin. I served a powerful warlord who dreamed of conquering the land, not out of greed or bloodlust, but from a desire to unify the people. I was fine with that, for a while. You see, if he unified the land, then there would be no further use for assassins like myself. So when he finally conquered the land I killed him. Plunging the provinces back into chaos and infighting. Assassins still have to eat and peace dose not put food in our bellies or cloths on our backs.
My actions however, did not go unnoticed by the local temple and the head priest begged his god to punish me. And so she did. I was struck down and cast into the neither world where I was remade into a creature of darkness. Later I learned to travel into the realm of shadows and was then able to re-emerge into the mortal realm, and with the darkness as my ally, I have become one of the best assassins ever.
Currently I serve a organization known as the Dark Legion. They are a mercenary company that sell their services to war zones all over the world. they are a death cult as well as mercenaries. they believe that their god will return to this realm if enough lives have been taken in His name. Sometimes, though they hate to admit it, they need more subtle means to fulfil contracts. You can't always meet the enemy head on or you tend to run out of soldiers. That is where I come in. I take care of the targets that require a more delicate hand.
During the Dark Legion's down time I have been known to take private contracts from time to time.
